Part Wolf

Part Wolf

Snoozing in the mid of day, I received an image of an animal that looked like nothing I have ever seen or known.  It looked to be part wolf, part hyena. The vision came, and quickly left. I woke puzzled and intrigued as to why I had received an image of such a creature. A google search returned images that mirrored, exactly, the animal as I’d seen in my dream!

The maned wolf, as it is called, is more often described as looking part wolf, part fox. It however is not wolf, fox, or hyena. It is a wolf in name only, the only kind of its species. Unlike a common wolf who travels in packs across different regions in the world, the maned wolf is a loner from Argentina and Brazil. Sharing this information on my Facebook page, I asked, “Now why did I receive a vision of this animal?”

One friend commented “The interpretation belongs to the Lord! Pray into it! God knows and he showed YOU for a reason!”

My cousin said, “Because your name is Wolf and you are from Brazil, it’s a reminder that you don’t need a pack, you can do what you need to do and spread your message all on your own! You are unique and rare, but oh so important.”
I loved my cousin’s interpretation, and I valued the advice of my friend, so I have been praying and pondering on this dream for a few weeks now, and yes, I believe we are all–part wolf.

Some cultures and religions hold onto to a belief that humans have a spirit animal that helps to guide and protect them. They believe a person holds a likeness to the characteristic traits of their spirit animal. This is a pagan belief system placing trust in the spirit of the world, not in the Spirit of God. This doesn’t, however, mean that God doesn’t use animals to teach us things.

The Book of Job tells us to ask the beasts, and they will teach us. (Job 12:7) Every creature has something to teach us if we are open and willing to learn from them. Take the ant. The ant teaches us to be diligent and hardworking, not lazy. (Proverbs 6:6) We can gain wisdom by considering the ways and characteristics of any creature made by God. God called all He created, good.

It is bothersome, for me, to accept that my name is associated with the ruler of darkness. In the Bible the wolf is portrayed as the one who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. (John 10:1-12) Therefore, it is pleasing to learn that like the maned wolf, I am a wolf in name only. I am a wolf of a different breed.

The maned wolf is known for having keen eyesight and being excellent hearers. It is my hope and desire to have keen eyesight to see the works of the Lord and to hear His Voice.

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” John 10:27

“Come and see what God has done, his awesome deeds for mankind!” Psalm 66:5

Coupling this revelation with the known traits of a common wolf, I am proud to say I am part wolf.

The common wolf leads and protects his pack. He shows no fear. Respects elders. Teaches the young. Survives each day. Hunts and defeats his enemies. Howls to a new tomorrow. Explores the unknown. Adapts to new environments. Demonstrates no weakness. Never backs down. A wolf leaves his mark!

When our youngest son and his wife married they purchased t-shirts for the entire wedding party that say, Part Wolf. After pondering on this vision I have come to the conclusion we are all part wolf.

You have the characteristics and strengths of a wolf. You are unique, a one-of-a-kind, set apart for the glory of God. You have been given ears to hear His Voice, and eyes to see His wonders!

Still, knowing we have an enemy, a wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing, it would be wise to heed the words of this old ancient tale.

THE TALE OF TWO WOLVES
One evening, an elderly Cherokee brave told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, “My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all.

One is EVIL. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guild, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is GOOD. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one that you feed.”

Raggedy Ann

Raggedy Ann

Still in bed, only partially awake, a name dropped into my thoughts. Raggedy Ann.

I didn’t know why the beloved ragdoll’s name came to mind, but I was certain on who placed it there. I heard a voice say, “She is still around, but people have forgotten her story.”

What story of Raggedy Ann have we forgotten?

I got out of bed and began researching her history. Raggedy Ann was created in 1915 by writer and political cartoonist, Johnny Gruelle. Gruelle’s daughter, Marcella, found a faceless rag doll in her grandmother’s attic. Gruelle drew a face on the doll, named the doll after two poems written by James Whitcomb Riley; The Raggedy Man and Little Orphant Annie, and that was the beginning of Raggedy Ann. Source: Wikipedia.

The same month a patent was approved for the red-headed doll, Gruelle’s daughter died. After receiving a smallpox vaccine at school, administered by a school nurse, without consent of parents, Marcella died. Is this the forgotten story that is still around today? Similar reports have been made about the Covid vaccine. Sample One. Sample Two. Sample Three.

Digging deeper into Raggedy Ann’s past, I found some disturbing information.

In 1953, the Boston Evening American Newspaper published an article about a man named Douglas P Adams. Adams used a carving knife to kill both his wife and daughter. It was reported, the girl’s body was sprawled on the floor, and at her feet was a mystery novel, and sitting in the chair overlooking her slain body, was a life-size Raggedy Ann doll. Creepy details to be noted in a police report.

I also discovered that the creepy Annabelle doll that is featured in so many horror films, she was birthed from news reports of a Raggedy Ann doll said to be processed by a deceased seven-year-old named Annabelle Higgins. Later, a supposed well known paranormal expert determined said doll was not possessed by an Annabelle spirit, but that of a demon spirit.

No matter how you look at it, the sweet little rag doll loved by so many through the years; has something sinister and evil attached to her name. It is not supposed to be this way. Raggedy Ann was created to be loved and to share the message of love. After all, branded on her heart is the message, “I Love You.”

I believe God placed Raggedy Ann in my thoughts to wake me (us) up to this truth: As the force of evil wormed its way into an old rag doll, it is actively working to worm its way into the minds of our children.

We’ve always known that the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. We know he preys on the weak and vulnerable, but now, he is becoming more aggressive. Schools have third graders reading murder mysteries, movie creators are making more twisted films, and children are confused about their identity. These are just a few of Satan’s plans to kill, steal, and destroy the young. We have much to be righteously angered over today.

Today’s culture wants a woke society. God wants an awakened society.

God wants us to wake up and become aware of what is happening around us. There are forces of evil that wants to strip us of every good gift God has given us–our children, our freedom, and the knowledge of God’s saving grace. The Bible says, “Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God.” —Revelation 3:2

May we wake up to the sinister strategies of Satan and finish the race God has set before for us. Let’s save the children.

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” –2 Corinthians 10:4

Remember, that upon your heart, like that of Raggedy Ann’s, you have been branded with a message from God that says: I LOVE YOU!

Mystery at Papaw’s Barn

Mystery at Papaw’s Barn

We had a fun, full, and fatiguing week watching the three youngest grandchildren for three days and nights and having all six grandchildren the final night for one big sleep-over party. We watched the kids swing, play ball, zip-line, ride a dinosaur, do flips, and try to solve what they called, the Mystery at Grandpa’s Barn.

Certain I had heard a critter inside our mini-barn I went running out screaming, with arms flailing. After my husband made a thorough inspection, he found the noise was only a tree limb brushing across the roof. Our grandsons could not be convinced of this truth. The boys spent HOURS searching for clues of a critter that did not exist.

While the boys were busy writing down the noises they were hearing in their detective notebooks, our granddaughter was secretly planting irrelevant evidence. They recorded hearing hissing, humming, hopping, and buzzing noises. They even recorded evidence of bugs being found and boxes moving. A list of suspects was compiled. Could our culprit be a raccoon, mouse, rat, snake, squirrel, opossum, fox, chipmunk, gerbil, woodpecker, or a big army of ants?

Grayson, (5), went in the house and grabbed the two wooden crosses I keep on our coffee table. He calls them blasters. He tucks them inside the waistband of his pants and uses as super-hero weapons to blast away bad guys. Though the boys were not brave enough to enter the barn alone, together, armed with blasters, they had the courage to forge into the unknown.

From early in the afternoon into sundown they continued searching for clues to solve the Mystery at Grandpa’s Barn.

Early the next morning, still in pajamas, the boys were back in the barn searching for new clues.  Of course, the boys didn’t find any critter culprit but, they had hours of fun searching!

I suggest we follow their plan to seek the Mysteries of God.
Armor up, grab your blasters and be battle-ready. (Ephesians 6:10-17)Seek truth. (Psalm 119:130, John 8:32)Take note of what is going on. (Deuteronomy 6:6-8)Be strong and courageous. (Joshua 1:9)Buddy up. Forge ahead with a friend. (Isaiah 41:10)Persevere.  (2 Chronicles 15:7)
What special memories do you have playing at your grandparents house?

Decatur Quilt Festival

Decatur Quilt Festival

God literally lit my path with rubies to get me to Illinois to share His Story. If you haven’t read my Ruby story you can read it here.

After declining an invitation to attend the Decatur Quilter’s Festival, A Ruby Celebration, because of a conflict on my calendar, I reached out to the quilt guild and was graciously added back onto the docket. I learned in years past, the quilt festival has drawn as many as 800 people.

The two-day event, April 8-9, was held at the Decatur Civic Center. Vendors were to set up their booths the day before, meaning for me, this was a three-day trip. My friend Mary traveled with me on Thursday and helped me to get a booth set up for the Immanuel Quilt Ministry.

Knowing that we would have Thursday evening free, I had contacted Melba, an Immanuel Quilt Ministry follower who lives in Decatur, to see if her church might be interested in having me come and speak. The Oreana Baptist Church in Oreana did allow me to go that evening and share the story of the Immanuel Quilt. It was a bizarre moment when the pastor’s grandmother told me she has my book. After a friend of hers had heard me speak, and told her of the Immanuel Quilt, she had ordered the book from the ministry website.

Friday, the quilt show ran from 10:00 -5:00. Throughout the day there were speakers giving demos on how to do different techniques. I spoke at 1:00. Though there were not many who came to sit and listen to the Immanuel Quilt Show and Tell, everyone present–heard His Story. My voice carried His Word through the microphone, into the speakers and out for all in the Civic Center to hear.

Faith comes from hearing and hearing the Word of God. (Romans 10:17)

For the few who did sit and listen, they grasped the Immanuel Quilt was inspired and designed by God. As His Story unfolded, I saw one shedding tears being touched by the Spirit.

Though I was not scheduled to speak on Saturday, the guild president came to me late in the day on Friday asking if I would. So, on Saturday, the same Gospel message, with a tie-in to the ruby-red blood of the Lamb was presented and went across the loudspeakers for all who were present to hear.

It was three days, three presentations, and blessings to abound.

I encountered many people who had heard of the Immanuel Quilt. Some had even heard me speak. I met Susan who came carrying her own signed copy of The Immanuel Quilt, a gift to her by a friend. She has never been to a presentation, but when she learned I was going to be there, she came. She told me she has read the book many times, looked up every Scripture, and it is her most treasured go-to book.

I got more than a dozen inquiries about going to speak at other places.

A talented artist wishes to incorporate designs from the Immanuel Quilt into her stained-art glass ministry. She would use The Immanuel Quilt book to tell His Story with pieces she creates.

An avid quilter who enters quilts in shows across a multi-state region, she and her husband wish to be Immanuel Quilt Ministry advocates to help get me invited into other quilt festivals to speak.

“Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

The Immanuel Quilt Ministry gained some new followers, sold some products, and shared His Story. And, I believe, created a buzz that people are still talking about today.

I love this photo taken of the quilt at Oreana Baptist Church.

Quilt guild members pray before doors open for quilt show.

Fifteen minutes before doors to quilt show opens, a line to get in has already formed.

Dressed for the event in her ruby-red slippers, this little lady lured folks into the IQM booth.

This is Susan who came to tell me how much she treasures The Immanuel Quilt.

And last but not least, the image portrayed on the final page of the powerpoint–a ruby-red reminder of the passion Jesus has for us.

His Love Ran Red.

The words on the screen next to this pink-ish blood red gem are the words found in Scripture.

The Lord is forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to him. -Psalm 86:5.

This, my friend, is reason for real celebration!

A Path Lit with Rubies

A Path Lit with Rubies

When I received the invitation to attend the Decatur Quilter’s Festival, A Ruby Celebration, I declined the invite. The dates conflicted with a retreat I planned to attend. However, in short time, God seemed to show me that declining the invitation was a mistake.

The day after declining the invite I was at the grocery store and heard a mother call her child—Ruby.

The next day reading my Bible, I came across a Scripture with the word—rubies.

The following day, having a playful conversation with my husband and reminding him we have not yet taken the trip he promised for our 40th Wedding Anniversary, with a grin I added, “And, I never received the customary 40th Anniversary gift from you.” Clueless, he asked, “What gift is that?” “Rubies!” I answered.

Next day, reading my Bible, I read the word rubies again in another passage. I wasn’t looking for rubies. They just kept showing up. It’s not exactly a common everyday word.

“Lord,” I asked, “Are you trying to tell me that you want me to go and speak at the Ruby Celebration?”

Opening my Bible and trying to connect rubies to Jesus, in less than twenty minutes I’d found a connection. In the Bible wherever rubies are mentioned, it is in association with beauty or wisdom.

Isaiah 54:12 I will make your battlements of rubies, your gates of sparkling jewels, and all your walls of precious stones.

Ezekiel 28:12-13 “You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect beauty. You were in Eden, the garden of God; every kind of precious stone adorned you: ruby, topaz, and diamond, beryl, onyx, and jasper, sapphire, turquoise, and beryl.”

Even the twelve gems listed as mounted into the breastplates worn by high priests—the first stone mentioned is a ruby (Exodus 39:10 NASB 1995). As far as wisdom goes the Bible tells us that wisdom is better than rubies (Proverbs 8:11 KJV), and that the price of wisdom is beyond rubies (Job 28:18). And then of course, I had to consider Jesus’ Names; Altogether Lovely (Song of Solomon 5:16 NIV), and Only Wise God (Jude 1:25 KJV).

When John was taken up in the Spirit and saw the throne of heaven, he saw the one sitting on the throne as having the appearance of jasper and ruby. Who is at the throne? God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit (Revelation 4:3, 5; 5:6).

Wikipedia describes a ruby as a pink-ish red to blood-red colored gemstone. Pink represents humans and red represents Christ. Jesus was God in the flesh who came to shed His blood for us.

It appeared God was wanting me to go to the Ruby Celebration to tell His Story. However, since I already had plans for that weekend and knew it would be difficult to find someone to go with me for two days, I pulled a Gideon and put out a fleece. (Judges 6:33-40)

I asked God to let me hear, or see, the word rubies one more time if it was His will that I go to Decatur. The next day scrolling through Facebook News headlines, I read, “Queen’s Ruby Tiara—the true meaning behind it.” There was no mistaking God’s plan was that I go to Decatur and share His Story.

The ruby signs didn’t stop, they kept coming. Watching a movie, the main character’s name was Ruby. In another movie, a ruby stone had special powers. Plus, I started seeing ads for rubies.

Going to get a haircut I walked into the salon and found a woman getting her hair colored—red. The woman was dressed to the hilt wearing a black leather skirt, black sweater, black leather tights, and black patten shoes with glitter. What caught my attention the most though, were her ruby earrings.

After complimenting the woman’s style and studs, she told me she is eighty-four years old. She asked that I come closer. When I did, out from under the neck of her sweater she pulled out a tear-drop ruby! The gem was a gift from her husband, a gift she has never taken off, and she added, “My husband has been gone for twenty-one years.”

Instantly my thoughts went to the gift each of us are given—the precious ruby red blood of Christ. I knew in that moment that my purpose for being sent to a quilt festival a week before Passover, and the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ, was to prepare hearts to receive the ruby-red blood of Jesus Christ—the Gift of God.

Intrigued by the woman in black, I asked about her life. She told me how she went through eight years of school to become a doctor, then she said, “You probably won’t believe this, but God spoke to me and changed the direction of my life.”

“Oh, I believe it,” I said, “Right now God is speaking to me, through your rubies!”

As if that wasn’t enough confirmation of God redirecting my plans, the next client walked into the salon and the stylist said, “Take a seat, Ruby…”

God is an Awesome God!
